Health and Safety Commitment

At Shakehaus, a prominent film, TV, and audio production company based in the UK, our dedication to the health and safety of all emplyees, freelancers, and contractors is unwavering. Recognizing the significance of compliance with the Corporate Manslaughter legislation and in alignment with Health & Safety legislation, we are steadfast in our commitment to cultivating a secure and healthy working environment for everyone involved in our productions.

Reporting Concerns

We encourage an open and vigilant culture where any concerns related to health and safety, whether it be non-compliance or other issues, should be promptly reported to your Line Producer. Your diligence plays a crucial role in maintaining our commitment to safety.

Company Responsibilities

Shakehaus takes a comprehensive approach to ensure the well-being of our team and everyone associated with our operations. Our responsibilities include, but extend beyond:

  • Ensuring the safe provision and meticulous maintenance of equipment, machinery, and systems crucial to our productions.
  • Guaranteeing the compliance of all work vehicles with insurance, MoT regulations, roadworthiness, and the appointment of licensed drivers.
  • Managing health risks associated with materials and substances, demonstrating our commitment to responsible use, handling, storage, and transportation.
  • Regularly providing health and safety instruction, information, training, and supervision to empower our team to work safely and confidently.
  • Sustaining safe workspaces and ensuring accessibility for all personnel.
  • Furnishing adequate welfare facilities that prioritize the comfort and well-being of our team members.
  • Adhering to all relevant health, safety, and welfare statutory requirements, including compliance with broadcasters’ manuals.
  • Conducting comprehensive risk assessments and effectively communicating control initiatives.
  • Maintaining detailed health and safety records to monitor and continuously improve our safety standards.
  • Establishing and disseminating emergency and evacuation plans to prepare our team for any unforeseen situations.

Employee Training and Awareness

Acknowledging that knowledge is key to maintaining a safe environment, all Shakehaus employees will undergo thorough training in health and safety principles. Heads of Department will be briefed on their specific responsibilities, fostering a collective responsibility for safety within our teams.

Legal Compliance

Under Section 7 of the Health and Safety at Work, etc. Act 1974, individuals are urged to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others. This encompasses abstaining from activities that may pose risks due to drug or alcohol consumption. Disciplinary actions will be enforced for any violations, emphasizing the seriousness with which we approach this matter.

General Health and Safety Arrangements

  • Shakehaus ensures appropriate First Aid coverage for Construction and Shooting Crews.
  • Fully equipped First Aid kits are readily available in the Production Office.
  • Location call sheets indicating the nearest Accident and Emergency hospitals.
  • An accident book is maintained in the Production Office to record and address any incidents promptly.
  • Fire Evacuation Procedures are meticulously implemented at all venues and location sets to prioritize the safety of our team.

Safety on Set

To ensure safety on set, detailed safety guidelines cover a spectrum of aspects, including equipment security, fire safety protocols, lifting procedures, heights safety measures, chemical storage guidelines, electrical safety standards, and the use of personal protective equipment.

Roles and Coordination

On set, the First Assistant Director assumes the critical role of Safety Coordinator. This individual facilitates communication between the floor crew and the Producer/Line Producer, ensuring that general health and safety matters are effectively communicated and addressed.
